Acer Pseudosieboldianum ‘North Wind’

One of the ‘Jack Frost’ series of super-hardy hybrid Japanese Acers, Acer x pseudosieboldianum ‘North Wind’ tolerates much colder temperatures than other Japanese Acers and is well-suited to harsh northerly gardens. A cross between Acer Pseudosieboldianum (False Siebolds Maple), from whom it inherits its resistance to extreme cold, and the Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum) from which it gains its elegant branch structure and foliage colour, it will cope with exposed UK gardens providing its roots enjoy good drainage. This small to medium-sized Acer has foliage that emerges red in the spring, and turns brilliant green in the summer months before taking centre stage in the autumn with fiery orange and red tones.
