Amsonia orientalis
Height x Spread: 50cm x 60cm
Masses of small, blue, star-like flowers adorn this plant in late spring, its pale blue flowers shining out of a partially shaded spot. Â Further interest is delivered by the dangling, bean-like, dark seed pods that develop after the flowers have faded and the striking autumn foliage. Â
It is ideal for the front of the border, either in sun or part shade. The plant can be divided once it is well established, probably after 3 years. Â A reasonable soil is required and it will tolerate some dryness.
