Named after the Japanese word for yellow – “Sekkan” – Cryptomeria japonica ‘Sekkan Sugi’ creates a strong impression in the landscape with its creamy yellow foliage, which is at its most intense in spring and early summer before maturing to dark green. ‘Sekkan Sugi’ forms a medium, pyramidal to columnar tree composed of softly pendulous branches covered in awl-shaped leaves. In autumn, spherical cones dangle from the ends of the branches. A graceful specimen tree for garden borders, it also suits container growing. RHS Award of Garden Merit. Height: 4m (13ft) Spread 1.5m (5ft) in 20 years.
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
