Once you have seen Fascicularia in full flower, it is quite impossible to forget! This extraordinary Bromeliad is a Chilean native with linear silver-green foliage that forms a spreading, evergreen rosette. The leaves are tough with a sharp, serrated edge. In late summer, the foliage turns to scarlet red as the flowers emerge. The flower bracts are tightly packed with tiny bright blue flowers that create an astonishing colour contrast. This clump forming perennial is hardy to -5C (23F), and can be grown in sheltered borders and rockeries in very mild areas, with free draining soil. In colder locations, it is best brought under cover for the winter to protect it from cold, wet conditions. Height: 45cm (18″). Spread: 100cm (39″).
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
