Awarded an RHS AGM, Lilac ‘Charles Joly’ will bring colour and a rich heady fragrance to your garden. Densely packed clusters of deep purple, double flowers are borne at the stem tips from May to June. Like all Syringa, the heart shaped foliage remains an attractive feature, even after the flowers have faded. This superb variety forms a large shrub or spreading multi-stemmed tree. A lovely addition to cottage gardens, scented planting schemes and wildlife areas, where the nectar rich blooms will attract plenty of butterflies. Height and spread: 7m (22’).
Culinary note: Adding the fragrant flowers to cream cheese or even yoghurt for a hint of lemon flavour. For more details about edible flowers click here.
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
