Miscanthus Sinensis ‘Variegatus’

A crowd-pleaser through all the seasons, Miscanthus sinensis ‘Variegatus’ is a deciduous grass that delivers elegant form and texture, variegated foliage, summer flowers and autumn colour that lasts well into the winter.

Tall, stiff stems arise from a dense clump, cascading into a fountain of finely textured leaf blades, strongly variegated green and white. The blades rustle in the breeze, providing movement and catching the sunlight. In September, pinkish flowers open into long, silvery plumes that persist into winter. Meanwhile, the foliage adopts a golden, autumnal hue that also carries through the winter season.

This tall, bold grass can be used as a standalone specimen or planted in a border to add structure, colour and winter interest. It is also useful for softening the hard edges of hard landscaping. Height and spread 1.5-2m (5-6.5ft).
