This hardy perennial is perfect for the cut flower garden – its long stems are topped with exotic double blooms which are a remarkable blend of yellow and apricot. The fragrant flowers appear from May, bridging the gap between spring and summer. Peony ‘Canary Brilliants’ is an eye-catching intersectional hybrid – a cross which marries the exotic looks of tree peonies with the herbaceous growth habit of herbaceous peonies, and often called an Itoh Peony. An unusual perennial, with an attractive bushy growth habit. Height: 75cm (29″). Spread: 90cm (36″).
Culinary note: The petals can be added to salads, or cooked slightly and sweetened for a treat. Peony water was also once considered a delicacy and the blooms can be floated in punches. For more details about edible flowers click here.
