Few plants provide as much garden interest as the humble Pyracantha. This reliable evergreen is covered in masses of small, white flowers from late spring, which are always busy with pollinating insects. By autumn the blooms are replaced with a profusion of glossy round berries that provide a valuable food source for birds, and create a colourful display.
Pyracantha is superb when trained as wall shrub, where the glossy evergreen foliage gives year round colour. Its thorny stems make it is equally useful as a dense impenetrable security hedge that will deter intruders. Tough and resilient, these hardy shrubs are undemanding and thrive almost anywhere. Our collection combines two superb varieties from the ‘Saphyr’ range which are known for their resistance to Fireblight disease. Height and spread: 2.5m (8’).
- Collection comprises 1 plant each of:
- Pyracantha ‘Saphyr Orange’ – Bright, orange berries.
- Pyracantha ‘Saphyr Red’ – Glossy, scarlet berries.
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
