Rudbeckia fulgida var. deamii is a classic, prairie plant, renowned for its free-flowering nature and sturdy constitution. This robust perennial is a good choice for heavier soils which remain moist in summer and will rapidly spread to form drifts of golden yellow daisies with brown central cones which are held on stiff stems above hairy, dark green leaves. It provides colour to late summer and early autumn borders, pairing beautifully with grasses and violet asters. The radiant flowers also stand out well against the dark background of purple-leaved shrubs such as Cotinus ‘Royal Purple’. The flowers are attractive to butterflies and after they have faded the attractive seed heads are enjoyed by finches. Height: 60cm (24”). Spread: 45cm (18”).
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
