Universally known as ‘London Pride’, Saxifraga umbrosa ‘Variegata’ has the same rosettes of spoon-shaped, toothed, fleshy leaves as the common variety. However, in this selection the green foliage is liberally splashed with gold, helping to illuminate shady areas and providing an evergreen foliage display long after the flowers have faded.
From May to July it bears exquisitely tiny pink flowers that float in dainty sprays above long red stems. This adaptable little plant will form quickly spreading carpets of foliage, colonising paving gaps, wall cracks and edges and usefully softening the transition between hard surfaces and soft landscaping. Alternatively, allow it to spill over containers in shady spots. Performs best in part shade. Height and spread: 25cm (10in).
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
